Resolution

Starting from Symantec IT Management Suite 8.0 HF5, Symantec Management Platform, and related solutions support the management of Windows Server 2016 client computers. Note, that only Desktop Experience version is supported.  

List of supported solutions

IT Management Suite provides support for client functionality for the following operating systems:

  • Windows Server 2016

Following are the tested and supported components and functionality of IT Management Suite 8.0 HF5 on Windows Server 2016 client computers:

  • Symantec Management Platform (Starting from Symantec IT Management Suite version 8.5)

  • Inventory Solution
  • Inventory Pack for Servers
  • Patch Management Solution
  • Power Scheme
  • Deployment Solution
  • Real-time System Management
  • Software Management Solution
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration (SEPIC)
  • Task Management
  • Monitor Solution
  • Symantec Workflow 
  • Virtual Machine Management

The following site-server functionality is supported on Windows Server 2016 computers starting from 8.1 RU2:

  • Package Server
  • Task Server
  • Monitor Server
  • Network Boot Service

Note:

The components and solutions that are not explicitly listed in the list are not supported. The usage of those might lead to undesirable outcomes.
