Shortcut target path gets truncated when the .exe that the shortcut is pointing to resides on a different computer.
The shortcut target will be truncated to eight characters when the .exe resides on a different computer than the installation is installed to, and during installation a connection to that other computer is not established. This is a limitation of Windows Installer and not of the Wise product.
This issue may also occur when distributing the package through SMS or group policy because the users may not be connected to the network during installation. If you manually install the .msi file, the target path is correct because the user that is logged in is connected to the network.
If you cannot connect to the drive containing the .exe during installation time, then you can create a wisescript that creates the shortcut during the installation.
