If the Helpdesk 6.0 license is a standard license and not permanent license, Helpdesk partially continues to work after its license expiration date ends (its AUP). As with most Altiris products, these are under lease to the end user per their license contracts. These products are not designed to fully function if they are unlicensed or their license expires.
Helpdesk will still continue to function without a valid license, however, major restrictions then apply. This primarily includes:
- New incidents cannot be made.
- The Commands menu of the Worker console has many administrative commands locked and disabled (such as New Incident).
- Old incidents can still be viewed and edited, however.
If the license is a permanent license, even when its AUP expires, this does not result in a loss of functionality. Note: Most customers do not have a permanent license but a standard one.
