Multiple users and cost centers can partly own the same configuration item. To assign ownership percentages, first, you must allow configuration items to have multiple users.
Then, you specify ownership by user, department, and cost center, and set ownership percentages.
Ownership percentages are calculated in the following way:
Configuration item ownership must total 100%. If there is one owner assigned, ownership is calculated at 100%, if there are two owners assigned, their combined values must total 100%.
If the ownership totals less or more than 100%, you can click the Auto Calculate option in the Ownership Details section. You can access the Ownership Details section on the Edit configuration item page. In this case the ownership is calculated by multiplying both percentages with what is required to make 100%, while the ratio is maintained. For example, if one owner owns 85% and another owns 10%, the ownership is increased to total 100%. The 85:10 ratio is maintained.
If the ownership percentage totals more than 100%, the ratio is maintained and the percentages are decreased to total 100%.
This task is a step in the process for managing configuration items.
