You would like to use Symantec Ghost to clone servers. Is this possible?
Ghost is primarily a tool for cloning Windows workstations. Since Windows servers typically have NTFS file systems, just like workstations, it is possible to clone Windows servers, with some restrictions:
The Ghost Console cannot be used to clone server operating systems with versions prior to GSS 2.5, Ghost version 11.5.x. See the document 'How to install the Ghost 8.x Client.' This document is for Ghost 11.x as well. View it at http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH108715
The GhostCast Server works with hardware RAID 0 or 5 in a Windows PE environment. It does not work with software RAID. See the document 'How to use Symantec Ghost 11.x to image or restore data to a RAID array' at http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH109572
Ghost Solution Suite 2.0 and later, the Ghost Console Client is not designed to be installed on servers. Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 does have a server client option. See the document 'The Ghost Console Client is not designed to be installed on a Server OS' at /TECH109619http://symantec.com/docs
Ghost is not designed to clone Terminal Servers. See the document 'Ghost compatibility with terminal services such as Citrix Metaframe and Windows 2000 Terminal Services' at http://symantec.com/docs/TECH107510
Ghost versions before 11.5 were not designed to work with external RAID arrays. See the document 'Does Symantec Ghost work with external RAID volumes?' at http://symantec.com/docs/TECH109597
