Issue/Introduction

The report for Disk Space by Computer, found at Reports > Discovery and Inventory > Inventory > Cross-platform > Hardware > Physical Drive > Disk Space by Computer, fails when loaded.  The following errors are seen:

  • An error occurred on the page. Please check the log for more details.
  • Failure running this Report. Please check the configuration of the query.

Source: Altiris.Reporting.UI.ReportViewControl.OnLoad
Description: Failure running Report 'Disk Space by Computer'. Please check the configuration of the query.

( Exception Details: Altiris.DataSource.Exceptions.DataSourceRunException: An unexpected SQL error occurred when running the RawSqlDataSource. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Arithmetic overflow error converting numeric to data type numeric.

Cause

The report is taking a raw value of disk space (such as 1660304752640) representing the number of bytes on a drive and tries to convert it to a decimal value to display the number of MB on the disk (e.g. 1583390).  The conversion was capped at 13 in 8.1, which wasn't enough to display.

Resolution

There is a fixed version of the report attached to this article.  The file can be downloaded and imported into the Physical Drive folder, to overwrite the current version of the report.

This report will be integrated into a future release of Inventory Solution.
