Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5 SP2 (Build 463) is the required build to supports Windows 7. pcAnywhere 12.5 SP2 (Build 463) is to be applied to a machine with pcAnywhere 12.5 sp1 (Build 442) already installed.
A newer update to pcAnywhere is available SP3 (Build 486) but must beapplied after this update. See TECH167734 for more information on pcAnywhere SP3
If you have Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5 SP1 (Build 442) installed on Windows 7, run LiveUpdate to update to the latest build of Symantec pcAnywhere.
Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5 SP1 does not automatically install LiveUpdate on Windows 7. Go to the section Download and install LiveUpdate to install LiveUpdate. Also, you can download and install Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5 SP2 patch directly to update to Build 463. At this time pcAnywhere updates are not available for integration in the LiveUpdate server or LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x (LUA 2.x) server.

Issue fixes in Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5 SP2 (Build 463)
- Added support for Windows 7.
- Fixed an issue with ADS local computer caller. With ADS authentication on the local computer, the caller file was displayed as computer name\user instead of [local computer]\ user. This switch prevented the caller file from moving from one computer to another.
- Fixed an issue with Keyboard mapping between host and remote.
- Fixed an issue with ADS delay. For AD groups, pcAnywhere enumerates every user in the group before determining if the user is in the group. It then authenticates the user, which delays the user authentication.
Note: To enable this fix, under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\pcAnywhere\CurrentVersion\Host registry, create a new NeedToByPass Dword value with the value data as 1.
- Fixed an issue with the Remote Connection Attempted dialog box displaying the group name instead of the user name.
- Fixed an issue with ADS authentication – Nested ADS groups authentication fails on Vista.
- Fixed an issue with BSOD 0xC5. When restarting the host computer from a remote computer, sometimes the BSOD(C5) error is displayed on the host computer.
- Fixed an issue with Windows NT Authentication - Authentication works for users within the AD group that is a member of the local Administrators group. It did not work for the users that were nested within the AD group that is also a member of the local Administrators group.
- Fixed an issue with pcAnywhere unchallenged access capture. pcAnywhere fails to capture and log the unchallenged access to identify the remote user that is connected to the host computer.
Download and install LiveUpdate
1. Depending on the version of Windows, download the LiveUpdate setup file. Save the file on the Windows desktop.
2. Double-click the LUSETUP.EXE file that you downloaded to your desktop. If a security warning appears, click Run.
3. Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation.
4. LiveUpdate can now be run to update your installed Symantec software.
Notes on Packager:
There have been no updates to Packager itself as part of pcAnywhere SP2.
If you need to use Packager and require SP2, you can do either of the following:
- If the package has already been deployed, simply run LiveUpdate. It will only update components that are already installed on the computer.
- Create a new package using Packager. Use Packager to install the SP1 components, then add a custom command to run the EXE file provided above. The EXE will update the installed components.
