How does the WSUS Patch Assessment query work in bv-control for Windows?
When any query comes for the WSUS patch assessment against any machine, RMS will first check If the WSUS Client is installed on the machine or not. If client exist, then depending on WSUS patch assessment source options: “WSUS Server” or” Windows update site” we set the source for the WSUS client. Then we query for the patch information from the client, the client itself contacts to the registered WSUS server in its organization, and it returns the required information. If a WSUS server is not installed, by default, all machines point to windows update site. So for patch assessment query select “windows update site” and you can view patch results. You can run a query on “WSUS Server” and scope to a particular machine to figure out to which WSUS server that machine is registered with.
Note: Query Engine needs to be present on WSUS Server – if you are reporting on Windows Server.
