System.Net.Sockets.SocketException is observed while trying to restart the Task server services (Altiris Object Host service).
This issue occurs because of an issue in the Aspperf.dll file.
This issue has following pre-requisites before you apply the fix.
1. Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed
2. Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0
You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
Symantec has confirmed there is no code change in relation to this issue.
Microsoft has release the following hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960718. The issue is resolved by applying this hotfix in the Notification Server.
