When upgrading Symantec Endpoint Protection client from 11.0.6300 to 12.1.671.4971 on a Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3 , the installation fails with "Error 2343. Specified path is empty."

Previous version 11.0.6300 of Symantec Endpoint Protection did not uninstall properly while upgrading to the latest version 12.1
Cleanwipe tool also failed to remove traces of Previous version 11.0.6300 of Symantec Endpoint Protection from the client machine.
Run CleanWipe or manually remove legacy SEP agent residuals and reinstall.
