How to disable all notifications and scan progress on Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) unmanaged client

Resolution

 1.       Open Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) interface.  Next to the Virus and Spyware Protection click on Options and then select Change Settings > Auto-Protect > Notifications, disable Display the Auto-Protect results dialog and confirm with OK

2.       On  Virus and Spyware Protection Settings window go to Download Insight tab > Notifications, disable Display a notification message on the computer and confirm with OK

3.       On  Virus and Spyware Protection Settings window go to Outlook Auto-Protect tab > Notifications, disable Display a notification message on the computer and confirm with OK

4.       On SEP interface go to Options (next to the Proactive Threat Protection) and then select Change Settings. In the SONAR tab disable the option Show alert upon detection

5.       On SEP interface go to Options (next to the Network Threat Protection) and then select Change Settings. In Notifications tab disable Display Intrusion Prevention and Memory Exploit Mitigation notifications

6.       On SEP interface go to Scan for Threats on the left side and select the scan from the list. Right click the selected scan and choose Edit. Go to Scan Options tab > Notifications and disable Display a notification message when a risk is detected and confirm with OK

7.       Click on Advanced button and under Dialog options choose Do not show scan progress from the list.

8.       Repeat so with every scan from the list

Be aware that disabling notifications about risks detected will not make the user aware that the machine could be infected or attacked. It is suggested to leave them enabled.
