This article contains information on how to troubleshoot performance related issues on SMSDOM.
Areas to check
DAOS: If IBM's Domino Attachment and Object Service (DAOS) is used: please refer to technote TECH95989.
MIME to CD conversion: Please refer to technote TECH93649.
Premuim AntiSpam (PAS) high CPU: Please refer to technote TECH155148.
Temporary space: Please refer to technote TECH96140.
Upgrade from version prior to 8.0.7: If SMSDOM was upgraded from versions prior to 8.0.7, ensure that the excluded processes and databases are refreshed (SMSDOM Settings > Configuration > Auto_Protect > Ignore the following server processes: click "Reset to defaults").
SMSDOM databases (NSF) wrong version: If the SMSDOM databases are not showing the correct version in their title (e.g. SMSDOM was upgraded to version 8.x but the databases show "5.0" in the title), please refer to technote TECH172764. Repeat the same steps for all other SMSDOM databases.

Performance monitoring and data collecting
Download the PerfMon templates and follow the steps below to collect performance data for analysis.
Ensure NMON is installed on the server
Start a NMON collection with the following command:
nmon -fT -s5 -c17280 -I 0.01
The collection will end after 3 days, the output NMON file can be provided to Symantec Technical Support for additional analysis
Download the Windows 2003 PerfMon template from the Attachments section below
Open Computer Management on the desired server
Browse to "System Tools" > "Performance Logs and Alerts"
Right click on "Counter Logs" and select "New Log Settings From..."
Select the template file downloaded at step 1, then click "Open"
Click "OK" and "OK" again to add the counter
Click to select the SMSDOM counter on the right pane
Click the "Start" icon at the top or select menu "Action" then "Start"
Ensure the collector runs for at least 3 days, then stop it
The output CSV file can be provided to Symantec Support for additional analysis
