PGP Universal Server Template "Web Messenger New User Email -- Establish Passphrase" template not used. Sends "New Message Notification email" instead.
This behavior has existed for versions of the PGP Universal Server as far back as 2.x and is still present in the current 3.x releases. If the PGP Universal Administrator creates a new user via the PGP Universal Server UI, then the External Recipient will receive the email with the "New User Email -- Establish Passphrase Template".
This behavior is working as designed. A feature request has been submitted and is currently being investigated by Symantec Development. Please subscribe to this article for future updates to this issue.
As a workaround, modifying the "New Message Notification" template to encompass new users as well as existing users should be done. The following is an example of how to do this:
New Message Notification Template: From: $FROM_RFC2047 To: $TO Subject: PGP Universal Secured Message MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 You have received a PGP Universal Secured Message from: $FROM_UTF8 If this is the first time you have received this Web Messenger secure message, click the link below to establish a new passphrase and read your message.
If you are an existing Web Messenger user, to read this message securely, click the link below and enter your current passphrase: $URL_PERSONALIZED
On PGP Universal Server, under the Message Templates, there are several Web Messenger Templates that are used in specific circumstances.
In the event that an External User receives a Web Messenger message for the first time, the user will receive a regular "New Message Notification" email.
New Message Notification Template: From: $FROM_RFC2047 To: $TO Subject: PGP Universal Secured Message MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 You have received a PGP Universal Secured Message from: $FROM_UTF8 To read this message securely, please click this link: $URL_PERSONALIZED
New User Email -- Establish Passphrase Template:
From: $FROM To: $TO Subject: PGP Universal Web Messenger Invitation MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 You have received a PGP Universal Web Messenger invitation. PGP Universal Web Messenger is a service which allows you to securely communicate with organizations that use PGP encryption products. In order to secure future messages from this sender, click the link below to activate your account and establish a passphrase: $URL_PERSONALIZED If you received this message in error, or did not intend to create a PGP Universal Web Messenger account, please ignore it and you will not be contacted again.
