Effective July 1, 2013, Symantec announces End of Life (EOL) of the SKU descriptions of Symantec™ Endpoint Encryption Full Disk (SEE Full Disk) and Symantec™ Endpoint Encryption (SEE).
This announcement is for the SKUs only, and the products offered under these SKUs will continue to be available and supported under the replacement “FlexChoice” SKUs as set forth in the table below:
Note: Eligible customers with current maintenance and support for SEE Full Disk and SEE will have their licenses automatically migrated to the replacement SKUs. The replacement SKUs entitle customers to an additional benefit of flexible licensing to deploy either Symantec™ Drive Encryption with Encryption Server Limited Powered by PGP Technology (SDE with EMS Limited) OR Symantec™ Endpoint Encryption Full Disk (SEE Full Disk), up to the license quantity entitled as detailed in the table below.

Are SEE Full Disk and SEE licenses available for purchase after July 1, 2013?
The SKUs with descriptions of Symantec™ Endpoint Encryption Full Disk or Symantec™ Endpoint Encryption begin their end of life July 1, 2013 and will no longer be available for purchase. However, the actual products with the “FlexChoice” SKUs/license entitlement will continue to be available for purchase and receive Symantec Technical Support.
What are “FlexChoice” SKUs/licenses?
The “FlexChoice” SKUs/licenses are offered as part of the Symantec Encryption product family and have the word “FlexChoice” in their SKU description. The “FlexChoice” licenses provide flexible licensing that allIow customers to choose between the Powered by PGP Technology platform or the Symantec Endpoint Encryption platform. Such licenses are most suitable for customers who are transitioning from the Symantec Endpoint Encryption platform to the go-forward Symantec Encryption platform Powered by PGP Technology.
Beginning July 1, 2013, Symantec offers the following two “FlexChoice” licenses/SKUs:
If you have 20 licenses of SEE Full Disk, you would receive replacement licenses of 20 Symantec Drive Encryption FlexChoice with Encryption Server Limited Powered by PGP Technology.
Under the “FlexChoice” licensing benefit, with the 20 replacement licenses, you can choose to deploy SEE Full Disk on 5 devices and SDE with EMS Limited on 15 devices.
How do existing SEE Full Disk and SEE customers receive new licenses and software for a “FlexChoice” entitlement?
Eligible customers with current maintenance and support for SEE Full Disk or SEE will receive a notification from Symantec around July 1, 2013 via email or physical mail. The notification will provide the following:
(1) License Key for SDE with EMS Limited, a product not available previously under the SEE Full Disk or SEE license entitlement.
(2) Serial Number to access the FileConnect link provided in the notification for software download. On the download page, there is an option to filter the download files by Endpoint Encryption or PGP
