Issue/Introduction

When deploying the OVA file for Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), the ESX server fails to deploy the OVA. Instead the ESX host logs an error.

The disk capacity specified is greater than the amount available on the
datastore. Click Cancel to return to the previous page. If the datastore
capacity has been increased since the last update, click OK to continue
deploying the OVF template.

Cause

Multiple possible causes...

  • Insufficient disk space available within the resource pool or ESX host.
  • Block size of the vmfs filesystem on the ESX host is set too small to permit deployment of the OVA for ATP.

Resolution

If your ESXi server is using VMFS-2, then set block size  to 4MB or greater.

If you are using a filesystem later than VMFS-2, then set block size to 8MB or greater.

If the resource pool or VMWare server has less than 500GB available, add disk capacity resources to the ESX Server or resource pool to permit deployment of the OVA for ATP 2.0 with thick disk provisioning.

If the resource pool or VMWare server has less than 100GB available, add disk capacity resources to the ESX server or resource pool to permit deployment of the OVA for ATP 1.0 with thick disk provisioning.
