You are asked "How do you want to open this .jnlp file?" when opening the Java Remote Console.
This occurs after upgrading from the 32-bit Java Java Runtime Environment (JRE) that ships with the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) 12.1, to the 64-bit Java 8 JRE that ships with SEPM 14.
A dialog box displaying the message "How do you want to open this .jnlp file?" with a list of applications to choose from.
The upgrade from the 32-bit JRE 7 to the 64-bit JRE 8 may not update the file association for the Java Remote Console's .jnlp file. When this happens, the .jnlp file extension is still associated with the previous, 32-bit JRE 7.
Select Java(TM) Web Start Launcher from other options. If this option is not present, Click More Apps > Look for another app on this PC, browse for the 64-bit JRE 8 version of javaws.exe (By default, C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_101\bin\javaws.exe), and click Open.
If you are unable to locate the JRE 8 install folder, Uninstall all versions of the JRE, then install the 64-bit version of the JRE from the manager.
