Issue/Introduction

The IP address of the Symantec Protection Engine (SPE) scanner has changed and SPE is no longer receiving scan requests. You need to know how to change the bind address to the server's new IP address.

Environment

Linux or Solaris

Resolution

1. Open a terminal session and navigate to opt/SYMCScan/bin
2. At the prompt enter the following command and press Enter: ./xmlmodifier -s //configuration/protocol/ICAP/BindAddress/@value <New IP Address> configuration.xml

  • Running the command to add the bind address overwrites the previous entry. Multiple addresses can be entered by using ; as a separator (I.E., 127.0.0.1;10.10.10.1 )

3. Restart the Symantec Protection Engine service
