Issue/Introduction

WinPE is not able to authenticate states invalid password for share.

WinPE process:

  1. The DHCP Client service is started.
  2. The DHCP client service was started successfully.
  3. The TCP/IP NetBIOS helper services is starting.

    Establishing Network connection...
    Validating IP address...
    Authenticating connection...
    Could not authenticate network connection.
    Map Network drives...
    The password is invalid for \\<servername>\express.
    Enter the user name for '<servername>': System error 1223 has occurred.
    The operation was canceled by the user.

Cause

Invalid user account.

Resolution

Open PXE configuration > Edit boot image on step 5 of 12, re-enter the credentials for WinPE, select Next, and regenerate the entire package again.

Make sure the account is also included in the eXpress share NTFS permissions as well.
