If the Altiris Agent is remove using the command: AeXAgentUtil.exe /clean /unistallagents it will remove the agent and other installed agents, except for the Endpoint Security Agent. This agent will remain installed and will continue to remain functional (mostly). However if the Altiris Agent is reinstalled again, the Endpoint Security agent will no longer show up as an installed agent, nor will it be reported as installed when basic inventory is submitted.
If the ESS agent is reinstalled it still does not correct the problem. It remains intalled with most of its files located in the correct directories, but is not recognized in the Altiris Agent's "Installed Agents" list
When the Altiris Agent is cleaned off it removes the following file and registry settings required for the ESS agent to be recognized and integrated as a snapin agent of the base Altiris Agent.
2. If the damage is already done then restore the file and registry entries previously mentioned from another computer with the ESS agent installed and registered correctly, or they can be laid down by running the RIP package attached to this article. NOTE: The registy in this article contains "Product Version"="3.2.357"
if the version of the agent you are dealing with is incorrect then it needs to be changed in the RIP package and or a source .REG file.
