When saving a value in a drop-down list in a Data Connector import rule or in a CMDB rule, the page refreshes but the value that was picked is not kept. No script errors appear on the page.
Additionally, a warning may or may not be logged in the Altiris logs similar to the following:
Description: provided fallback culture(en-US) for non supported languages. Maximum request length exceeded.
This is caused because the default maxRequestLength of 4,096 KB is exceeded.
Change the maximum request length to enable larger values:
- On the Symantec Management Platform server, edit the file <install directory>:\Program Files\Altiris\DataConnector\Web\web.config. Note: For Altiris 6, this is located in a different folder: <install directory>:\Program Files\Altiris\Connector\Web\web.config.
- In the <system.web> section add (or edit, if it already exists) the following line:
- Save the file.
- Restart IIS.
- If the issue continues, change the value in step 2 to 16384, resave the file and restart IIS again.
Note: If this issue occurs with other Altiris Solutions, their web.config or the one from the \Altiris\Altiris Web folders can be modified using these instructions to resolve the same issue elsewhere.
For Altiris 6, a hotfix also resolves this:
Connector Solution 6.5 Hotfix
If the above change to the maxRequestLength does not resolve the issue, ensure that browser script errors are not occurring. These will appear on the lower left of the browser when the issue occurs as "Script Error" or other errors and warnings. If these occur, the browser has been most likely locked down to not be able to run ActiveX or scripts. These settings may be enforced by a group policy to the user's network account or computer being used. Refer to the network demonstrator for further assistance.
