Aptana IDE application is causing the Altiris Agent to max out system processor speed. It does not appear to be related to the OS or hardware. I was able to duplicate the issue by testing the application on my pc.
This resulted in the AeXNSAgent.exe starting to consume approximately 48 - 54 % of my CPU for approximately one to two minute intervals. Periodically the CPU would reduce to a normal rate however shortly after the CPU rate quickly increases to the 48 - 54 % range. During this time frame no functions are being performed for Aptana IDE application. When the Aptana IDE application is closed the AeXNSAgent.exe returns to a normal utilization level.
Running the Application Metering Agent in an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is not recommended.
Similar behavior has been noticed in other types of development software such as Visual Studio.Net. Our development team has indicated that the Application Metering Agent should not be installed on pc's running any type of development software. A bug has been logged regarding this issue while our development team will attempt to address this in the 7.0 build version.
Note: While looking at filemon when this runs there are a lot of java runtime processes running. This may be pulling the Application Metering Agent down.
