You want to export a list of Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.x (Symantec AV) or Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.x (NAVCE) servers or clients on your network.
The easiest way to export this information is to use the Symantec System Center (SSC). From the SSC, you can export a list of servers in a given server group, or a list of clients for a specific server.
To export a list of servers or clients from the SSC:
Open the SSC, and unlock the server group that you want to export.
To export the list of the servers in the server group, select the server group. To export the list of clients that a server manages, select the server.
Click View, and select the view that you want to export. You can choose either "Default console view" or "Symantec AntiVirus/NAV Corporate Edition" (depending on whether Symantec AV or NAVCE is installed). The Default console view contains the Machine Name, Status, Network OS, and IP Address fields; the Symantec AntiVirus or NAV Corporate Edition view contains the Server, Type, Status, Last Scan, Definitions, Version, Scan Engine, Address, and Status of Client Updates fields.
Click Action, and then click Export List.
Choose a location and file name from the Save As dialog box, and then click Save to export the list. The list is saved as a comma or tab delimited text file that can be imported into a database or opened as a spreadsheet.
NOTE: You must have Microsoft Management Console (MMC) 1.2 or newer installed for the Export List feature to appear.
Alternately, you can export the list of clients from the server's registry. This provides somewhat more information than presented in either of the views in the SSC. However, not all of the information is meaningful, and the information is not presented in such a way that it can be imported into other applications.
To export the list from the registry of the server:
