Issue/Introduction

This article describes how to create new client installation packages using the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) console.

 

Environment

Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.x

Resolution

Create a new package

  1. In SEPM, click the Admin tab on the left.
  2. Select the Install Packages button in the lower center section.
  3. Click Add a Client Install Package under Tasks.
  4. Click Browse.
  5. Search for the Installation package *.zip file or got to unzipped package \SEPM\PACKAGES and select SAV64.info or SAV32.info (removed since 14.3 RU6)
  6. Click Open.
  7. Specify the name you would like the package to have and provide relevant description.
  8. Click OK.

Export the new package

  1. In SEPM, click the Admin tab on the left.
  2. Under Client Install Package right click the package of your choice.
  3. Click Export a Client Install Package...
  4. Click Browse and choose the folder where the files should be placed.
  5. Select relevant settings - Version, Installation features and settings, Policy mode and Export Settings
    Note: You can leave all items as the default or choose the options you would like.
  6. Click OK.
