You have determined that the IM Manager database transaction log is taking a significant amount of space. You have determined, based on your backup and data retention policies, that you would like to reduce the size of the transaction log.
Below are instructions for truncating the SQL Server Transaction log. This information is provided "as is". If you have trouble shrinking your SQL Server transaction log, please work with your DBA group or Microsoft to resolve this issue.
Here is one way to shrink the transaction log for SQL Server 2000:
1.Open Enterprise Manager
2.Right click on the IM Manager database and select All Tasks > Backup Database.
3.Select Transaction log backup.
4.Back up the transaction log.
5.When finished, right click on the IM Manager database and select All Tasks > Shrink Database'.
7.Select the transaction log file from the drop down.
8.Select the Shrink Action of Truncate Free Space from the end of file.
2. Run the batch file by either double-clicking it or running it directly from the command line.
3. The tool will prompt the user for the password to the IM Manager's MSDE database. The tool will shrink the Transaction log and place the results in a file called 'output.txt' in the same directory the tool is located in.
