Starting September 4, 2018, all the new Android devices that you enroll in SEP Cloud will receive a new app with extended mobile protection on Android devices. For existing customers who already have enrolled their Android devices in SEP Cloud, the new protection features will be available on these devices soon with an upcoming app upgrade.
Availability of different security and management features depends on whether Symantec Mobile Device Management (MDM) is enabled or disabled for your company account. The enrollment instructions for Android devices do not differ depending on whether Symantec MDM is enabled or disabled.
Tap Start Enrollment to get started. In the Play Store, on the SEP Mobile app screen, tap INSTALL. On the next screen, tap ACCEPT to allow the app access to required components. The app is downloaded and installed.
After you install the app, tap Open.
If you are unable to enroll SEP Mobile app due to previous install then refer to the following article:
When prompted, tap CONTINUE and read the instructions to do the following:
Set up a SEP Mobile VPN connection
On the Connection request prompt, tap OK. It enables SEP Mobile VPN and other protection mechanisms to proactively protect the device and company resources.
Activate SEP Mobile as a device administrator application
On the DEVICE ADMINISTRATOR screen, tap ACTIVATE. The device administrator role enables the app to manage your device. This role is required for optimal operation of the app in background, and to prevent potentially harmful apps from stopping the app-related process.
If you cancel, enrollment ends and you will have to restart the enrollment process if you want to protect the device.
If Symantec Mobile Device Management (MDM) is disabled for your company account, you will see limited operations on the DEVICE ADMINISTRATOR screen
Confirm Knox License Management System (KLMS) Agent terms and conditions (only for Samsung Knox devices)
On the KLMS AGENT screen, accept the terms and conditions, and then tap CONFIRM. Confirming the KLMS agent's terms and conditions ensures the optimal operation of SEP Mobile with Knox.
The SEP Mobile app now performs multiple compliance checks to evaluate your device's compliance status, scans all the access points, and activates protections to assess the device risk status. In this process, the app analyzes your network, operating system, and the applications that are installed the devices.
You can refer to the Alerts screen of the app, and review the active alerts and related instructions to remediate any open issues.
Return to the Enroll this Device screen in the Chrome browser. After enrollment is complete, you can view and manage your device in SEP Cloud.
