In Symantec Mobility: Suite, policies are collections of the policy settings that are targeted to specific groups of users. To make creating and managing policies easier, you can save collections of policy settings as "Device profiles." You provide each profile a name. These names appear in drop-down menus within the policy editor. When you create a new policy or edit an existing policy, you can optionally add one or more of your saved Device profiles.
Device profiles are organized by function. These settings are sometimes referred to as "shared settings" because devices with differing operating systems can share that same setting. Go to Policies and rules > Device profiles to see the list of
Settings can be added to a policy profile or from within a new or existing device policy. Each setting group shows how many policies are using the group's settings.
Tip: Click the policy count to see a list of the policies that use the settings.
When you create a setting from within a device policy, the setting also appears in the Device profile.
Settings are only active when they are associated with a device policy.
When you create a setting, you have an option to apply that setting to a specific device operating system. In the example below, the Password Restrictions setting is applied to all device platforms (iOS, Android with and without Samsung KNOX, and Windows Phone).
