The Service Catalog Request Template is a template that you can import into Workflow Designer and use to create your own process. The Service Catalog Request Template contains most of the required aspects of a "simple" process that you can modify to meet your needs. The purpose of the Service Catalog Request Template is to provide you with a way to create and deploy processes in less time.
The Service Catalog Request Template is built using the Web Application Project Type; therefore, you can only install it in Workflow environment.
The template contains the following pre-built components: request, approval, implementation, fulfillment, and reporting/audit trail. The template has two models.
This model comes with pre-built forms to collect data.
These forms are placeholders where you can fill in additional data and request details.
This model is a process for managing the approvals that contain the partially-created approval and fulfillment tasks that you can modify.
This model is already configured for reporting.
These instructions provide an example of how to us this template to build a full Request - Approval - Fulfillment process in Workflow. You can reuse these same steps to plan design and implement similar processes. In this example, you can create an example process for a vendor request. This example demonstrates how to create a fully functional process from start to finish. It also reveals best practices for using the Workflow Designer tool and creating processes and reports.
You can access four videos on Symantec Connect that walk you through this process. These videos contain all of the steps in this document as well as some additional tips. However, the videos do not contain the example process planning and blank process planning tables that are included in these instructions.
