Issue/Introduction

There are NFS shares mounted to various directories in the Linux endpoint file system. When Endpoint Protection for Linux (SEPFL) runs scheduled scans, scans of these remote shares can be a source for poor system performance.  There currently is no manner to exclude the scanning of remote file systems through the scheduled scan settings.

Resolution

Configure exclusions in the exceptions policy to exclude the directories where remote file systems shares are present. These exclusions can be set up through the exceptions policy on the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM). For unmanaged SEPFL endpoints, the exclusions can also be configured through the command line using the appropriate commands.

Please note: SEPFL should be installed on all Linux computers throughout the organization.  Be sure that scans are being run locally on the remote computers that host the NFS shares.
