Issue/Introduction

  • Create a policy rule on the ProxySG or Advanced Secure Gateway (ASG) to forward traffic destined to one URL to another URL.
  • Create a policy rule to redirect traffic from one URL to another.

Resolution

  1. In the Management Console, go to Configuration > Forwarding > Forwarding Hosts.
  2. In the Forwarding Hosts tab, click New. A new window displays. Enter the following values for
    • your forwarding host:
    • Alias: myyahoo
    • Host: www.google.com
    • Type: Server
    • Choose the appropriate ports.
  3. Click OK, and then click Apply.
  4. In the Management Console, go to Configuration > Policy > Visual Policy Manager. Then click Launch.
  5. From the VPM menu, select Policy > Add Forwarding Layer. The Add New Layer dialog box displays.
  6. In the Add New Layer dialog box, enter a suitable name (for example, Forwarding-Rules) and then click OK.
  7. In the VPM, right-click in the Action field in the newly created rule, and select Set from the drop-down list.
    • The Set Action Object dialog box displays.
  8. In the Set Action Object dialog box, click New and then select Select Forwarding from the drop-down list. The Add Select Forwarding Object dialog box displays.
  9. In the Add Select Forwarding Object dialog box:
    1. Change the name of the object to yahoo-to-google.
    2. Select myyahoo in the window on the left.
    3. Click Add. The word myyahoo displays in the window on the right.
    4. Click OK.
  10. Click OK in the Set Action Object dialog box.
  11. In the VPM, right-click the Destination field and select Set from the drop-down list. The Set Destination Object dialog box displays.
  12. In the Set Destination Object dialog box, click New and then select Destination Host/Port from the drop-down list. The Add Destination Host/Port Object dialog box displays.
  13. In the Add Destination Host/Port Object dialog box:
    1. Enter www.yahoo.com in the Host window.
    2. Verify that Exact Match is selected from the drop-down list next to the Host field.
    3. Enter 80 in the Port window.
    4. Click Add and then click Close.
  14. Click OK in the Set Destination Object dialog box. The resulting policy should look like this:
  15. Click Install policy.
  16. Open your browser and try to access www.yahoo.com. You should see the content from Google’s Web site, although the URL in the address window is still www.yahoo.com
