Due to well-known security flaws in version 3 of the Secure Sockets Layer (SSLv3) protocol, as of April 4, 2016 the Symantec domains that provide registration, rules download, and software update services for products that incorporate the Brightmail based technology will no longer communicate using the SSLv3 protocol. Client applications that cannot use protocol levels higher than SSLv3 will have their connection requests refused and the connection will be terminated. Symantec is implementing this change in order to help ensure the safety of our customers and the integrity of the data transmitted from our servers.
This change may affect the ability of some older software releases from downloading antispam rules and software updates.
This change will have
NO IMPACT for customers who are running
currently supported product releases. There is a
potential impact to customers who are continuing to run products that are
currently in End Of Support Life status.
