Due to security changes introduced by Apple, users with DLP Agent 15.0 MP1 experience a system-wide crash (kernel panic) when they upgrade to macOS 10.13.2 and SIP settings have been added by the DLP Administrator; and the users try to launch Chrome or Safari. The system crash can also occur when there is an attempt to upgrade or restart the DLP Agent on macOS 10.13.2 systems.
To address this issue, Symantec has released a hot fix, as described in the next section.
To address the system-crash issue associated with DLP Agent 15.0 MP1 and macOS 10.13.2 use, Symantec has released a hot fix, available at FileConnect.
Once the hot fix has been applied, the appropriate SIP settings can be configured (see below).
Because all users with DLP Agent 15.0 MP1 will encounter the system crash when they upgrade to macOS 10.13.2, you should immediately apply the hot fix to all of your DLP Agents prior to the upgrade of the endpoints to macOS 10.13.2.
To obtain and apply the hot fix, and to apply the appropriate SIP settings, follow these steps:
Important: Endpoints with macOS 10.13.2 and DLP Agent 14.6 MP2 must first be upgraded to DLP Agent 14.6 MP2 Hot Fix 14.6.0205 (the kernel panic fix) before they can be upgraded to the DLP Agent 15.0 MP1 Hot Fix described here.
