Once the Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile (SEPM) app is installed, it requires the user to authorize his email address before the app is activated. For customers using MDM installation, this is only relevant for Android devices, as in iOS the SEPM application will perform an autologin thought the MDM application.
While the authorization can be performed using a numeric code, for most organizations authorization is performed simply by clicking on a link the user received via email from SEPM. In these cases, there's no need to manually enter a code.
