To use the Symantec Endpoint Vulnerability Remediation (VR) feature, you must activate its trial or full license. If you no longer wish to use the VR feature, you simply need to remove the VR subscription.
You can activate a VR full license with or without activating a trial first.
In the Symantec Integrated Cyber Defense Manager cloud console, on the Home page, under Applications and Data, find Vulnerability Remediation, select the plus icon, and then select Activate. NOTE: You must have Symantec Endpoint Protection 15 full license activated in your environment before you can activate VR license.
In the Activate Subscription dialog box, enter and submit the license key. After you enter the license key and select Verify, the license key is validated. If the number is valid, you can select Submit to activate the license.
After you submit the license key, the domain is switched to Default and actual activation will happen in the Default domain.
NOTE: After activation, VR feature is no longer available under More Products in any domain.
On the Subscription page, you can view details of your VR full license.
NOTE: Device enrollment happens in individual domains. An error message is displayed on the Subscriptions page, after you activate the VR license. This is because during the VR full license activation, no device group is selected. Click Edit Groups to add a device group for activation. After you select a device group, the license activation command is automatically sent to the devices in this group. If you activate VR in the Default domain, VR will be also available for custom domains. To add VR subscription for a custom domain, click Add Subscription. Initially, Edit Group option is disabled in a custom domain and will be enabled only after activating the VR.
(Optional) To add multiple subscriptions in the Default domain, click Add Subscriptions on the Subscriptions page. In the Add Subscriptions dialog box, enter another serial number, and then click Add.
(Optional) To confirm the status of Vulnerability Assessment and Vulnerability Remediation features on the Symantec Endpoint Protection client, open Symantec Endpoint Protection, and then click Help > Troubleshooting.
In the Troubleshooting dialog box, in the left pane, click Subscription Status, and check if VR_ASSESSMENT and VR_REMEDIATION are Subscribed.
In the Symantec Integrated Cyber Defense Manager cloud console, on the Subscriptions page, on the Licensed Groups tab select the group from which you want to remove the subscription, and then click Remove Subscription.
In the confirmation dialog box, click Apply. After confirming the removal of the subscription, a command will be automatically sent to the associated devices that deactivates the assessment and remediation features.
In the Troubleshooting dialog box, the VR_ASSESSMENT and VR_REMEDIATION change to Notsubscribed.
In the Symantec Integrated Cyber Defense Manager cloud console, on the Subscriptions page, select Edit Groups to change the device group for subscription.
In the Select a Group to Apply Remediation window, select the device group on which you want to activate the subscription, and then select Select. Note that before changing the subscription, you must install the Symantec Endpoint Protection client (with integrated VR plug-in) on these devices.
