New Features in this Release
Improvements for this release include the following new features:
Previously, AexConfig didn’t disable the StringCache when running a solution uninstall. This could have led to problems with large databases due to lengthy security calls running when the database was busy. If the transaction timeout (normally set at 10 minutes) was exceeded then the whole upgrade/uninstall could fail. This feature enhancement eliminates that possibility.
Fixes in this Release
The following issues were resolved in this release. For additional information regarding a fixed issue, click the Article ID link for additional information.
Altiris Agent Pull Installation Failures
Errors appeared on the AltirisAgentDownload.aspx page when users attempted a Pull installation of the Altiris Agent, after installing Notification Server 6.1 SP3 R1. This was caused by changes made to the ActiveX controls in the named page. This has been addressed and fixed.
Entering an alternative Notification Server in the Altiris Agent Installation Options dialog (select Configuration > Altiris Agent > Altiris Agent Configuration > Altiris Agent Rollout > Altiris Agent Installation and click Installation Settings) when performing a Pull Installation caused problems. The Altiris Agent was installed but the managed computer never contacted the Notification Server as a space was inserted after the Notification Server name. This has been addressed and fixed.
Resource Discovery Page failing to load
After upgrading to Notification Server 6.0 SP3, the Resource Discovery page failed to load if the Internet Explorer language was set to German. This has been addressed and fixed.
Report drilldowns not localized
HTML-type drilldowns were not localized. This has been addressed and fixed.
Duplicate task event types in Global Altiris Agent Settings page
After upgrading from SP2 to Notification Server 6.0 SP3, duplicates appeared for Aex Package Server Package Event and Aex Package Server IIS Status on the Events tab of the Global Altiris Agent Settings page. This has been addressed and fixed. We recommend you check the enabled\disabled status of these events after installation of Notification Server 6.0 SP3 R2.
Resource Associations with incorrect Attributes
The following core Resource Associations were created without the System attribute:
Incident To User
Incident To Resource
Site To Subnet
This caused problems when running Inventory Forwarding as the Resource Associations on the destination Notification Server had incorrect OwnerNSGuids. This caused problems with package replication, which tried to delete them. This has been addressed and fixed.
Refresh Licensing caused Altiris Database to timeout
Previously, in some circumstances License Refresh was hanging. This led to pages not loading in the Altiris Console and a delay in processing of NSEs. This issue has been addressed and fixed.
The LDAP query, which determines a computer's Distinguished Name in Active Director, was using the Primary DNS suffix. In certain environments, this can differ from the DNS name of the domain to which it belongs. It caused the LDAP query to fail and the Distinguished Name wasn’t sent with Basic Inventory. This issue has been addressed and fixed.
Package Server Agent generating errors
Packages, with a \\%computername%\share destination, were downloading and working but running Package Refresh resulted in an error in the Package Server Agent log. This could result in the logs being unusable. This has been addressed and fixed.
Warning Dialog appearing in background
Previously, when a Software Delivery job required a restart, the Warning dialog on the managed computer appeared in the background. This has been addressed and fixed.
Importing Site resource causing .NET/SQL deadlock
Previously, when importing from Microsoft Active Directory, the creation of Site resources very infrequently resulted in the object cache deadlocking. This has been addressed and fixed.
