We recommend that you restart IIS after installing Workflow Server.
Installing Workflow Server
The Workflow Server is the execution environment for applications you build using Workflow Designer. It publishes processes to Workflow Solution. It is a standard Web server.
Because Notification Server and Workflow Server use different versions of Microsoft .NET Framework, we recommend that you install them on separate computers. You can install Workflow Server and Workflow Designer on the same computer; however, it is not required.
Workflow Solution provides a single installer executable for Workflow Server and Workflow Designer. In the install wizard, Workflow Server is automatically selected. It is a prerequisite for installing Workflow Designer.
Installing Workflow Designer
You use Workflow Designer to design workflows. These workflows are then published by Workflow Designer to Workflow Server.
Because Notification Server and Workflow Designer use different versions of Microsoft .NET Framework, we recommend that you install them on separate computers. Workflow Designer is designed to be installed on client computers. You can install Workflow Designer on the same computer as Workflow Server.
In order to license Workflow Designer, the computer you install it on must be a resource in Notification Server. The most common way to add a computer as a resource is to install the Altiris Agent on it.
Workflow Solution provides a single installer executable for Workflow Server and Workflow Designer. In the install wizard, Workflow Server is automatically selected. It is a prerequisite for installing Workflow Designer. You can then choose to install Workflow Designer.
You can install this program on as many client computers as you need. A license is required if you intend to deploy projects from Workflow Designer.
