Important upgrade instructions: If you installed the 6.1 version of the Streaming SDK, complete the following process to upgrade to the 6.1 SP1 version of the Streaming SDK:
Uninstall the Workspace Streaming 6.1 SDK. The SDK can be uninstalled using the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Windows Control Panel.
Upgrade to Workspace Streaming 6.1 SP1. For information on Workspace Streaming 6.1 SP1 see article #47648.
Install the Workspace Streaming 6.1 SP1 SDK. The 6.1 SP1 Streaming SDK download is available in the same location as the Workspace Streaming 6.1 SP1 download.
Symantec Workspace Streaming 6.1 SDK is made up of several web services that areaccessed using simple object access protocol (SOAP). The interface is exposedthrough a web services description language (WSDL) document. The WSDLdocument provides details on the published methods and objects.
Many programming languages provide support for SOAP web services, includingC#, Visual Basic, C++, Java, Python, and others. Most languages provide the abilityto automatically generate proxy classes using the WSDL document.
The SDK provides the following:
User and group managment
Application management and provisioning
The Workspace Streaming SDK requires Workspace Streaming 6.1 or later.Applications accessing the web services must be able to contact the server hostingthe Streaming Console on the admin port, 9842 by default.
The SDK also requires an account with admin rights on your Workspace Streamingsystem.
The Streaming SDK can be used in any language that supports SOAP, or by using SOAP directly. The samples provided with the SDK use C# and VB.
Known Issues in this Release
The following are unresolved issues in this release.
Workaround, if any
SDK does not automatically uninstall when Workspace Streaming 6.1 is uninstalled.
After uninstalling Workspace Streaming 6.1, uninstall the SDK using Add/Remove programs.
Email addresses are not checked for validity. If a user with an inproperly formatted email address is viewed in the console, it must be updated before you can view user properties.
Identity web service.
Add functionality to your application to ensure proper formatting.
Minimum password length is not enforced when using local datastore. If you set up a self-service portal or similar interface, passwords of any length are allowed.
Identity web service when not using Active Directory or LDAP integration.
If users are provided access to change passwords, add functionality to ensure passwords meet security requirments.
