Question
How do I increase the physical size of the Altiris Logs?

Resolution

Answer

On the system click Start > Run > Regedit, and drill down to the appropriate Reg Key:

Notification Server:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\eXpress\Event Logging\LogFile

Agent:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Event Logging\LogFile

Right-click and modify the following, or create them if they do not exist:

  • MaxSize  (DWORD in Kilobytes)

o   Set from 2000 to 5000 (Decimal) to update the Size of each file

  • MaxFiles  (DWORD)

o   Set from 200 to 400 (Decimal) to update the number of files that are written to

Note: Changing these settings will allow a lot more disk space for the logs, for they are overwritten as time progresses. These sizes can be altered as desired, but keep in mind that increasing these values will consume more disk space.
