To use SEP Cloud, you need a valid subscription. Subscription options are available that provide support for different operating systems and device types. If you have a trial subscription, you can convert it to a paid subscription seamlessly.
On the Subscriptions page, you can display your subscriptions in either a chart view or a list view, as you prefer.
If you need support for a subscription, you can use your Support ID to submit a ticket. On the Subscriptions page, select the list view, and then expand the subscription to find the Support ID. For more information, select About/Support from the SEP Cloud profile menu.
Table: Subscription options
Protection for laptops, desktops, and Microsoft Surface tablets. Mobile security for tablets and smartphones.
Encryption management for Windows, Mac, and Android devices.
License name: Symantec Encryption Management for Endpoint Protection Cloud
License type: Per-user licenses.
Note: Available only as an add-on to per-user subscription types. Total number of encryption add-ons must be less than or equal to the number of per-user seat subscriptions.
Protection for universities' and students' laptops, desktops, and Microsoft Surface tablets. Mobile security for tablets and smartphones.
Currently, it is available with Symantec Endpoint Protection Academic Edition as a bundled subscription for universities and students to protect their devices. You cannot purchase it separately.
License type: Per-device licenses. This subscription is available through Symantec partners only.
Customers of Symantec partners may order trials and licenses from the partner that they use.
Anyone can start a free trial from the Symantec Security Cloud landing page. The length of the trial is typically 30 days, and a trial subscription usually includes 50 licenses.
Your trial subscription may include encryption. When the trial expires, you are transitioned to a 30-days grace period. During this period you can decide to purchase the encryption add-on or unencrypt devices.
You can upgrade your trial to a paid subscription any time during the trial duration or grace period from the SEP Cloud console using the Buy Now option on the Subscriptions page. You do not have to reconfigure SEP Cloud or re-enroll devices. You can also add additional licenses to your subscription using the Buy More option. Symantec terminates the trial account after the expiry of grace period and purges the data that is associated with that account.
Paid subscription renewal
Renewals depend on the period of time for which a subscription is valid:
Fixed duration without auto-renewal
Subscriptions that have a fixed period of time can be renewed within 30 days after expiry. If you fail to renew within 30 days of expiry, Symantec provides additional 30-days grace period to renew your subscription to continue protecting your devices. Symantec terminates the paid account after the expiry of grace period and purges the data that is associated with that account.
Fixed duration with auto-renewal
Subscriptions that have a fixed period of time with auto-renewal are renewed automatically before expiry.
Subscriptions that are offered through our partner marketplaces are generally billed monthly or annually never expire unless terminated explicitly. This subscription can be purchased through the cloud service provider's marketplace and the quantity of licenses can be increased or decreased as offered by the marketplace.
When a subscription is terminated:
Clients cease to download the updates.
Clients are not protected anymore.
Account administrator can only access the Subscriptions page in the console.
To protect the devices, a new subscription can be purchased from the marketplace, and then the groups must be transferred to the new subscription from the console.
If you have purchased your subscription directly from Symantec, you can use the Renew option on the Subscriptions page to renew the subscription. You can renew your subscription at any time before it expires.
The Buy Now and Buy More options are only available to subscriptions that are purchased from the Symantec site.
Depending on your subscription, you can create a user, enroll a device or a server up to the maximum license limit for a subscription.
To enroll additional devices or servers, or to create more users, you can do the following:
Unenroll any devices or servers that are not in use.
Deactivate any user accounts that are not in use. For example, users who are on leave or have not yet activated their accounts.
Unenroll all devices from an existing user to reclaim the allocated user license. A user license is consumed only when a device is associated with the user.
Update the subscription to buy more licenses.
While purchasing the subscription, you can also opt for the Auto-renew option in which your subscriptions will be automatically renewed at the end of the subscription.
Multiple subscriptions give you the flexibility to stagger billing cycles and accommodate your user requirements or regional needs.
For example, you can use a per-device subscription for your administrative employees to protect their desktop devices and a per-user subscription for your sales staff, so that they can enroll their mobile devices.
If you purchase both per-device and per-user subscriptions, two different subscriptions are created and listed separately on the Subscriptions page . You can then assign groups to the appropriate subscription.
