For Symantec Endpoint Detection and Response to email notifications, you must configure the connection to a mail server. Symantec EDR is compatible with any mail server that supports Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP).
If your mail server requires authentication to send messages, you must set up an account for the appliance on your mail server.
To configure the connection to an SMTP-compatible mail server
Do one of the following:
In the EDR cloud console, click Settings. Under Environment, select an appliance and then click Global.
In the EDR appliance console, click Settings > Global.
Scroll down to SMTP Server and click Edit SMTP Server.
Specify the following fields:
Type the name of your mail server.
Type the port that your mail server uses.
Type the email address where alerts are sent from.
Check this box if your mail server requires authentication to send messages.
Type the user name that is assigned to the Symantec EDR appliance.
Type the password that is associated with the user name for the Symantec EDR appliance.
