On a regular basis the SMSMSE service performs queries to Active Directory obtaining a list of mailboxes and public folders. These lists are used during scanning of the Exchange Information Store. The default frequency is every four (4) hours.
Use the following steps to change the frequency of enumeration:
1. Start regedit. 2. Create the following DWORD if not present:
This information is used in the SMSMSE Administration Console when creating or editing a scheduled or manual scan:
1. Open the Symantec Mail Security for Exchange (SMSMSE) adminstration console. 2. Click on the Scans tab. 3. Perform the following steps to configure/view a manual scan:
a. Click on Views|Manual Scan. b. Click on Tasks|Edit manual Scan... c. Click the Next button. d. The list is shown inthe Mailboxes section of the dialog box.
4. Perform the following steps to configure/view a scheduled scan:
a. Click on Views|Scheduled Scans. b. Click on either Tasks|New scan... or Tasks|Edit Scan.... c. Enter a name for the scan if appropriate then click the Next button. d. The list is shown inthe Mailboxes section of the dialog box.
