The enhanced Symantec Management Console views add functionality to the management views for version 7.1 and later for computers, jobs and tasks, policies, and software. The enhanced views add a Silverlight interface. The interface increases speed, enables drag-and-drop, allows easy access to status, and enhances searching and filtering that can be used for targeting. It also includes enhanced searching of tasks or policies.
If you install Symantec Management Platform 7.1 and accompanying versions of certain products, you can see the enhanced view. You can access the enhanced views through the Manage menu in Symantec Management Console.

Jobs and Tasks
The enhanced views are incorporated into the existing console. They let you manage computers, software, jobs and tasks, and policies more efficiently. For example, you can now drag and drop policies onto computers to apply the policies to those computers. This action eliminates multiple steps that the previous console required.
When you drag and drop from the Jobs / Tasks, Policies, or Software views, the most recent computer search results appear. This list presents the available drag-and-drop targets.
You can drag and drop an object onto a single computer or press Ctrl to select multiple computers. You can drop the object onto the search results list title bar to select all computers in the list. You can also drop the object onto an organizational view, organizational group, or saved search. This action lets you target all the computers in the view, group, or saved search.
If the target computer is not in the most recent search list, you can still select that computer. You can drag the object and hover over the Computers blade in the navigation pane. Then, you hover over the group of computers or the filtered or saved search that contains the computer that you want. Hovering loads the computers from the saved search or organizational view or group into the list pane. After the list pane is populated, you can drop the object onto the computer that you want to target in the list pane.

Adding computers to organizational groups
Scheduling and running jobs and tasks
Another example of simplified management is that you can alternate between views easily. If you click Manage > Computers and select a computer, your main view is of that computer. However, you can move between related objects and expand the objects to see details.
For example, when looking at computer details such as installed software, you can click the software name. That link opens the selected software in the Software view so you can see software details. These details include a list of other computers that have the same software installed. To restore the computer details view, in the Computers with software installed section click the name of the computer whose details you viewed previously. Alternatively, you can click the Computers blade.
The enhanced console views let you configure specific settings, such as search fields, input method, and query results.
