Prepare managed computers for inventory.
Target computers must be managed and have the Inventory Plug-in installed.

Create a custom data class.
Create a custom data class from the data class manager user interface. After you create a custom data class, you can add, edit, and delete its attributes.

Create a task with scripting logic and schedule it to run on the target computers.
You can create a new task or clone an existing sample task. To gather the inventory you want, you can use the script that is included in the sample task or you can create your own logic.

View custom inventory results.
Use the Resource Manager to view the gathered custom inventory data for a data class.
