[10265] Invalid sender %t. \"@\" is missing. BATV tagging will be skipped
Error code: 10265
Error name:
BMI_BATV_INVALID_SENDER_t
Error text: Invalid sender %t. \"@\" is missing. BATV tagging will be skipped
Affected module: brightmail_client
Product version: Symantec Messaging Gateway 9.5 and later versions
Symptoms:
Cause:
This warning level message appears in the bmserver_log when you have configured a Bounce Attack Prevention seed and created and applied a Bounce Attack Prevention policy when the envelope sender of a given outbound message is formed improperly.
When an improperly formed address is found, the outgoing message is not signed with a Bounce Attack Prevention tag, so that any potential legitimate bounce of the given outgoing email is handled as per your configured Bounce Attack Prevention policy.
Resolution:
If you do not want any bounces of the germane message rejected (the default) or otherwise handled by your configured Bounce Attack Prevention policy, you can use the reported envelope sender address in the error message to isolate the message using message audit logs. Then, check where the message is generated from within your network and correct the sending address for that source to a valid format.
This warning can be safely ignored.
Log sample:
The following is an example of the error message as it appears in the bmserver_log.
10265 ^ BMI_BATV_INVALID_SENDER_t ^ Invalid sender %t. \"@\" is missing.
BATV tagging will be skipped.
