Error text: Error from web server $http_error_code - $http_error_description:unable to get: $Ruleset_IRU_address.
Affected module: Conduit
Following are the symptoms of this issue:
An attempt to download a module rule update fails when Symantec Brightmail Gateway accesses the named server with the HTTP error code noted.
Ruleset download may be temporarily, intermittently, or regularly compromised.
Error in logs
The conduit component of the Symantec Brightmail Gateway appliance is not able to download rule updates from the configured server. The server can be down, undergoing maintenance, have a corrupted ruleset file, or the configuration of your appliance in terms of server address or ruleset may be incorrect.
If this error occurs once, intermittently or rarely, there is no need to intervene. The appliance reattempts download of the ruleset update and if that fails, it downloads the full ruleset. Rules are distributed across a number of different servers and the error may be due to a problem on a specific server, or the request for the ruleset update may refer to an update that is in the process of propagating to the relevant server. Symantec monitors the rule distribution server farm proactively and if there is an issue with a given server, it will be resolved.
If you use a non-standard ruleset or rules server address, confirm that your configuration is correct. Closely inspect the$Ruleset_IRU_address portion of this error to ensure that the server address and path are correct. Check and correct any misconfiguration against the instructions you were given when setting up your custom ruleset.
