If you have multiple Symantec Protection Engines installed on your network, you might want to set up your own LiveUpdate server. With your own LiveUpdate server, you eliminate the need to have each Symantec Protection Engine on your network contact Symantec servers.
For more information, see the LiveUpdate Administration Utility, which is included in the Symantec Protection Engine.zip file.
If you set up your own LiveUpdate server, you must edit the LiveUpdate configuration file (liveupdate.xml) for Symantec Protection Engine to point to the local LiveUpdate server. The liveupdate.xml file contains the configuration options for LiveUpdate. For Solaris and Linux , the default location is /opt/SYMCScan/bin/liveupdate.xml. For 32-bit Windows, the default location is C:\Program Files\Symantec\Scan Engine\liveupdate.xml and C:\Program Files(x86)\Symantec\Scan Engine\liveupdate.xml for 64-bit Windows.
