To import an SQL server asset into CCS, the Windows user credentials supplied for connecting to the SQL Server should be a local administrator on the SQL Server machine. Otherwise, the SQL server asset does not get imported.
In order to import the SQL Server asset, CCS requires a list of all SQL instances running on target computer hosting the SQL Server. Each SQL instance has a separate service which can be seen in Service Control Manager (SCM) of target computer. To get the list of SQL instances, CCS requires to connect to the SCM of target computer. As only administrators can remotely connect to the SCM of a target computer, CCS requires the user credentials to have local administrator rights.
