Question How do I enable MSI failures logging for Repairs, Uninstalls, or Installations with Symantec Installation Manager 7?
There are some Registry Keys that can be enabled in order to provide a more detailed logging of processes involved with the MSI repair, uninstall, or installation of any of the Solutions installed with Symantec Installation Manager 7. You need to enable the following registry keys:
Create a folder where you can store the MSI logs (like C:\Temp\Logs).
On your Notification Server, go to regedit.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Altiris\AIM\Configuration.
Look for MsiInstallLogging, MsiRepairLogging, and MsiUninstallLogging and add the path for the folder that you created for the MSI logs.
Note: This can only be used when installing, uninstalling, or repairing software directly from Symantec Installation Manager. If running the MSI manually, use standard MSIEXEC commands to capture the log that way.
