Configuring VPP settings in Symantec Mobility: Suite
Last Updated November 09, 2015
After you enroll your organization in the Apple Volume Purchase Program - Managed Distribution (VPP) and download your service token, set up VPP in Symantec Mobility: Suite. You register a new or replacement service token the same way. License Configuration settings apply to the most recent token registered.
Click Settings > App License Management.
Click Upload Token and browse to and select the token file you downloaded from Apple.
Check Enable Volume Purchase Program - Managed Distribution.
The Enable Volume Purchase Program - Managed Distribution option is inactive until you upload a service token file.
Apply license configurations
Under License Configuration, check Automatically reclaim licenses when apps are uninstalled to reclaim associated VPP licenses when users uninstall the app from all of their respective devices.
Check Notify Publishers when license usage reaches [n] % of total to have email notifications sent when license usage reaches the threshold that you specify.
Important: If you enable this option, you must also enable license notification.
Check Allow users to personally purchase apps to permit end users to personally purchase and install apps directly from the App Store when no more licenses or downloads are available.
If no more licenses are available for the app through Mobility Suite, users are permitted to personally purchase their own license. Even if additional licenses for that app are purchased or reclaimed, those licenses are not applied to that user's app. The new or reclaimed licenses are reserved for future use.
Important: For more information about the implications of letting users purchase apps, see the following knowledge base article.
Check Automatically add licensed VPP Apps to automatically add VPP apps to your Mobility Manager as they become available, and then scroll up the page and beside VPP Sync, click Sync Now.
You must click Sync Now after you enable this option for VPP licenses to automatically be loaded into your Mobility Manager. If you upload a new service token, click Sync Now to have those related VPP apps automatically added to your Mobility Manager.
Mobility Suite sends an email notification to the administrator when a VPP app is automatically added. But you'll still need to assign the app to a user group, assign an app policy, and publish the app to make it available.
