What is Symantec announcing? At Symantec, we actively monitor security threats and trends in the industry, and after careful review and consideration, we have made the decision to End of Life (EOL) Symantec Network Access Control. The growth of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and the integration of access control technology into networking devices offered by most network hardware vendors have reduced the need for standalone NAC solutions. The discontinuation of Symantec Network Access Control will free up valuable resources to focus on our endpoint security offerings, including advanced threat protection and protection from newer security risks that impact your enterprise today.
On September 3, 2014, Symantec will cease selling Symantec Network Access Control in NAM, EMEA and LAM regions.
On November 5, 2014, Symantec will cease selling Symantec Network Access Control in the APJ region.
Technical support services for Symantec Network Access Control will close on November 5, 2017.
Which products are impacted? The following products will begin the End of Life process: • SYMANTEC™ NETWORK ACCESS CONTROL • SYMANTEC™ NETWORK ACCESS CONTROL STARTER EDITION • SYMANTEC™ NETWORK ACCESS CONTROL ENFORCER WITH 6100 SERIES APPLIANCE
Which regions are impacted? SNAC will EOL globally but the EOL schedules may differ depending on the region. Please refer to the EOL timeline below.
What is the timeline around the Symantec Network Access Control EOL?

Will we be migrating customers to other Symantec solutions? Moving forward, Host Integrity, a feature of Symantec Network Access Control, will be integrated into a future release of Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP). Customers who have SEP entitlement can continue to use the Host Integrity feature. Those who require advanced network access control capabilities should speak to their current network device providers whose products may have already incorporated this technology.
Will there be migration services offered? Will free entitlements be provided? Symantec customers who require self-enforcement AND are entitled to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 will still be able to take advantage of Host Integrity – a feature of Symantec Network Access Control. There will be no free entitlement and migration services offered. SNAC configuration cannot be exported and/or imported into other networking devices.
How are Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise Edition 4.0 (SPSEE) customers impacted? The End of Availability date is the last day to purchase SNAC. Therefore, after the End of Availability date, SPSEE Bundle will no longer include SNAC in the entitlement. Please review the EOL timeline for regional End of Availability date. How long will Symantec Network Access Control be supported? Symantec will continue to provide Tech Support services and bug fixes during the Limited Support period from the End of Life date until November 5, 2017 for customers with active maintenance. Please refer to the Symantec End of Life Policy for the definition of Limited Support.
What happens if a customer needs to purchase extra appliances or extra Symantec Network Access Control licenses after the End of Availability (EOA) date? Unfortunately, no Symantec Network Access Control appliances or software will be sold after the EOA date. In addition, Symantec does not sell hardware warranty extensions.
What happens if a customer needs a replacement appliance? If customers are still under the 3-year hardware warranty period post EOL, they can contact Symantec Tech Support to open a case to get a replacement appliance. Customers will have to maintain an active maintenance license for the appliance in order to access hardware warranty support through Symantec.
What happens if a customer needs replacement components? If the customers are still under the 3-year hardware warranty period post EOL and needs replacement components such as motherboard, memory, hard drive, etc., they can contact Symantec Tech Support to open a case to get replacement components. Customers will have to maintain an active maintenance license for the appliance in order to access hardware warranty support through Symantec.
If the customers need to purchase extra components, they can contact Dell directly to purchase.
What happens if a customer needs to replace the network card? The Symantec Network Access Control appliance is equipped with a bypass NIC card. If the customer is still under the 3-year hardware warranty period post EOL and needs to replace the NIC card, they should contact Symantec Tech Support to open a case to get a replacement NIC card. Customers will have to maintain an active maintenance license for the appliance in order to access hardware warranty support through Symantec.
Is there a Partial Support Period? There is no Partial Support period for this product.
Can existing customers purchase additional SNAC licenses or SNAC Enforcer after EOL? Customers can continue to purchase SNAC licenses or SNAC Enforcer appliances up until the End of Availability date.
How can customers remove the SNAC Enforcers from their environment?
