Inviting users to enroll in Norton Mobile Security
Last Updated November 09, 2015
To use the mobile security features of Mobility Suite, you invite users to install and enroll the Norton Mobile Security (NMS) app with Mobility Suite.
The following diagram depicts the enrollment workflow for both, admin and user:
If Norton Mobile Security is already on the device, the user is simply invited to enroll with Mobility Suite
There are three ways to invite users to enroll in Norton Mobile Security:
A: Send users a Norton Mobile Security e-mail enrollment invitation. A template is provided with a basic greeting, instructions, and URL to the app. You can edit the greeting as desired using the built-in editor. You can add user email addresses singly, add groups of users or use a comma-separated list (on a single line) to add several email addresses at one time.
Each invitation contains a unique ID and can only be used once. Emails cannot be forwarded or otherwise duplicated for reuse, for instance, by sending to a departmental mailing list. If a device user inadvertently loses or deletes their invite, they must request that another is sent to them. The NMS app token associated with each enrollment invitation expires at 90 days. After that time, a new email must be sent.
B: Tell the device user to use the Work Hub on their device to download the Norton Mobile Security app. (Norton Mobile Security is located under Apps.) User download and installation instructions for NMS are included in the Symantec Mobility: Suite User Guide.
C: Provision the Norton Mobile Security app on an internal server and send users a link to the app.
To use this option, you must set Mobility Suite to provision the app for "side-loading." Additionally, users must set their Android devices to allow apps from unknown sources.
If your installation of Mobility Suite includes the mobile security features (Trial and Enterprise versions), the Norton Mobile Security app is made available in your Work Hub list. You must apply an app entitlement to the Norton Mobile Security app for the groups that use it.
Additionally, the Norton Mobile Security app is not customizable nor can it be deleted from the App Details page in the Mobility Manager.
